Controversial questions in Security Council

Today the meeting of Security Council at Moscow International school is held. It is quite an interesting one and, it goes without saying, everybody is excited. Pupils are going to find a peaceful solution of Turkish invasion in the northern region of Syria and to end the war.

Each pupil presents a country that wants to participate in these actions and to come to an agreement. Students of Moscow State University and Moscow State Institute of International Relations are their guides.

Some countries present their view on the problem while the others vote on it and discuss if it can be accepted. There are some tricky controversial questions countries are arguing about, but hopefully their task is to come to an agreement.

The main question now is whether there will be two separate coalitions with similar projects or united one with a helpful solution. Not everybody is eager to be united, for example United Kingdom is very disappointed with Russian military forces on the territory of Syria, but there are delegates of the countries that want to have one coalition, for example the delegation of Germany.

It is very interesting to see how pupils are developing their skills in diplomacy and English-speaking.

Security Council is making a decision

Now pupils are going to make a resolution and working papers, that are divided into two parts: preambul part and main part. All the delegates splitted into two teams, doing different parts of working papers.

Using different devices pupils are writing amendments, that will help them make a solution. Everybody is excited and passionate with what is going on.

Here are some measures pupils have wrote:

1. To form International forces that will control borders of Syria and Turkey

2. To provide humanitarian help for people of Syria

3. To withdraw military forces except International ones

And, hopefully, there is now only one united coalition, members of which have come to an agreement.

Now the resolution is being checked by an expert and everybody is waiting for results. Quite exciting!

Security Council`s failure

Alas, the document is not being accepted. Pupils now should rewrite it, but not all the clauses.

Now they are trying to work all together, not like separate teams. Delegates need to work quickly because now they have only twenty minutes to complete the task.

Everybody is disappointed, but this failure might help them to improve their resolution and make it better than it even was. Let`s hope for the best!
